Geographical Distribution
The bronze featherback is found across Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. Its distribution spans major river basins such as Indus, Ganges, Brahmaputra, Mahanandi, Krishna, Cauvery and other southern Indian rivers, as well as the Irrawaddy, Salween, Meklong, Chao Phraya and Mekong rivers. It is also present in nearly all coastal river basins of peninsular Thailand and Malaysia, as well as in Sumatra and Java.

General Information  
This species breeds in stagnant or running water in the rainy season.  Breeding takes place in stagnant or running waters in the rainy season. Eggs are laid in small clumps on submerged vegetation. A female measuring 21-25 cm usually lays 1,200-3,000 eggs.  Water type: Bronze featherbacks are primarily found in fresh water, but can also tolerate brackish water. They prefer clear streams and stagnant or slow-flowing waters. Bronze featherbacks are active at night and during twilight. They migrate seasonally, moving to floodplains during the rainy season and returning to permanent water bodies during the dry season. Bronze featherbacks are carnivorous and eat insects, fish, crustaceans, and some aquatic plant roots.

Threats
- Overfishing.
- Habitat loss due to land conversion, forest fragmentation and pollution.
- Population is also impacted due to delayed monsoons.
